Equipping Your Church to Make Evangelism Normal

July 27, 2026  ·  6 min read  ·  Daniel & Katie Ziedins

Most churches don't have an evangelism problem. They have a confidence problem.

Ask a room of believers whether they want their neighbours to know Jesus and nearly every hand goes up. Ask when they last had a spiritual conversation with someone outside the church and the room goes quiet.

That gap isn't apathy. It's almost always three things: nobody showed them how, nobody went with them, and nobody asked them about it afterwards.

One of our greatest passions is helping churches close that gap. Here's the pattern.

1. Equip — give people something they can actually do

Skip the theory-heavy seminar. Teach one or two simple, repeatable tools:

Then have them map their oikos so this stops being abstract and becomes a list of real names.

2. Activate — go together, the same week

This is the step most training skips, and it's the one that changes everything. Teaching without going produces guilt. Going together produces courage.

Take people out within a week of training. Pair a nervous first-timer with someone experienced. Keep it short. Debrief afterwards — the debrief is where faith gets built, because people hear what God did through someone just like them.

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations… And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." — Matthew 28:19-20

3. Multiply — build it into the rhythm, not the calendar

An outreach event is a spike. A rhythm is a culture. The goal isn't one big push — it's a church where going out is simply normal, and where the people you trained are training others without you.

Practically, that means:

Don't do it isolated

Churches that try this alone burn out. Churches connected to a wider movement keep going. That's the whole reason Thy Kingdom Network exists — shared vision, shared encouragement, shared momentum across our region.

It's also why we partner with e3 Canada, whose entire focus is equipping believers to evangelise and establish multiplying churches.

Want help?

We love doing this with churches — training, going out together, and helping build a rhythm that lasts after we leave. If that's something your church wants, reach out. And if you'd like to see the bigger picture of where this is all heading, Love on Mission and Seek First are both good places to look.
